Switched Keys

Last week, Wellington Jighere, a notable Scrabble player mentioned HALFWAY in a post in Scrabbleverse, being a word that does not take any hooks and cannot be combined with any other letter to form a word. For some time I've referred to words formed by adding a letter as a blank anagram. The idea behind the term is that you add a BLANK to an existing word, and then ANAGRAM to form a new word. All of the words formed by adding a blank to a bingo stem like SATIRE are blank anagrams.

Well, HALFWAY is one of many words that do not have blank anagrams. With a little effort and a lot of patience I created a list of 7 letter words that do not have blank anagrams. In addition to not being able to add a blank or floater on the board, all but three hundred of them do not have any other anagrams.

I am providing this link to the list for those who have expressed an interest.
